Carlos Mira

Carlos Mira has 28 years' experience in Telecoms and IT, including global level mandates with leading players in this field. He presently works with technology ventures focusing on IT-Telecom convergence, in the US, Europe, as well as India. A former President & CEO Mobility Europe for Lucent, Carlos is also active as an independent director and serves as Executive Vice-Chairman of Bankinter’s “Fundación de la Innovación”.

Born in Madrid, Carlos started his professional career in 1979 working for the International Energy Agency in Köln (Germany). From 1980 to 1990, Carlos worked in Entel (the Services & Systems Integration subsidiary of Telefonica, integrated in Indra in 1993), where he held different management positions. From 1990 to 1996 he was with Thomson-CSF (later re-baptized Thales) as Director of the Industry & Services Unit in Thomson’s IT Division, based in Paris.

In 1996, he joined Lucent Technologies has President & CEO of Lucent Spain, expanding the territory under his responsibility to Italy and Portugal in 1997 and the Caribbean & Latin America Region in 1998. In 2000 Carlos was appointed Vice President Marketing & Business Development for the EMEA Region, based in London and in 2001 President & CEO Mobility Europe.

Since 2004, Carlos has been involved in various innovative technology companies in start-up and expansion phases in the USA, India, the UK and Spain, where he is also Non – Executive Director of Amper, a public company in the defense, telecoms and IT sectors and Teldat, an innovative IP equipment vendor.

He is also actively involved in think-tanks and organizations focusing on innovation, telecommunications and Ithe nformation Society, being currently Executive Vice- Chairman of the "Fundación de la Innovación Bankinter", member of GAPTEL (Secretaria de Estado de Telecomunicaciones y Sociedad de la Informacion), of the Executive Commission of ENTER (Instituto de Empresa) and Vice-Chairman of C@SI (independent think tank and limited membership club, focused on Telecommunications, Information Society and its global economic context)

Carlos graduated as Industrial Engineer from the Madrid Polytechnic University and has an MBA from Instituto de Empresa.
