Alberto Gómez - Managing Partner
Alberto draws together experience in investment banking, corporate management and venture capital. Previously, he has worked at Telefónica (MD of its $400m Corporate Venture Capital unit), Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Booz, Allen & Hamilton.
Alberto has been making venture capital investments since 2000 and brings 20 years of international experience in direct investment and financial transactions to Adara. He was Managing Director of Telefónica’s Corporate Venture Capital unit, responsible for $400m of investment in the information and communications technology sector. During this time, he had close interaction with management of the different business lines of Telefónica, including fixed, mobile, media/Internet/content and R&D.
Previously, Alberto was Chief Financial Officer of Atento Group, a subsidiary of Telefónica focused on CRM and call-center services, which held a leadership position in the Spanish and Portuguese markets.
From 1992 until 2000, Alberto working in investment banking based in New York with a focus on telecomms,media and technology. He worked at Morgan Stanley in corporate finance from 1992 to 1996. Then worked at Merrill Lynch, where he was Executive Director of the M&A Group until 2000. During this period he was responsible for many equity/debt offerings, acquisitions and sales; many of these in Latin America. Previously, he was a consultant at Booz, Allen & Hamilton in its acquisition services group.
He is an Associate Professor at Madrid’s business school, Instituto de Empresa, where he lectures on subjects related to venture capital and entrepreneurial finance. He obtained a BSc. In Engineering from MIT and an MBA (with distinction) from Harvard University. Alberto loves his family, classical music and opera.
