Warner Bros. Park in Madrid
Jesús’ previous experience in the leisure industry helped him complete a turn-around at the Parque Temático de Madrid SA. This Warner Bros. theme park opened outside of Madrid in 2002 and was reporting significant losses on its initial investment of €385m. Jesús was appointed by the shareholders in 2004. He achieved a settlement agreement with the existing US operator; then took control of the company with his own team. Subsequent improvements in operations, marketing and administration, combined with a €215m debt restructuring, allowed the shareholders to liquidate the majority of their holdings in 2007 in a €300m plus transaction. Jesús then resigned as Chairman, but maintains his board seat representing the new owners.
