Ring2 Communications

Ring2 Communications Limited (trading as ‘Ring2 Conferencing’ or ‘Ring2’) is a collaboration software and services company. The company has 40 employees and has offices and operations in the UK (London) and the US (San Francisco and Chicago).

Ring2 is a technology partner of Alcatel-Lucent and RIM (one of six tier 1 application partners in EMEA). The company has won the Red Herring 100 Award 2007 and is Frost & Sullivan’s 2006 entrepreneurial company award in audio-conferencing for its pioneering work in mobile remote control. Frost & Sullivan analyst, Dominic Dodd, describes Ring2 as having the “potential to transform the audio-conferencing market space”.

In May 2006, Ring2 launched the world’s first audio-conferencing service with remote control from a mobile device as well as the web. The call leader and participants still dial into the conference from any phone (eg. meeting room speakerphone, desk phone or cell phone), but the call leader can then take remote control of the call from their BlackBerry®, resulting in improved visibility, security and control over the call. Mobile control is important as so many calls are made away from the desk (40% are made from meeting rooms), where users tend not to have their PCs readily at hand. Ring2 currently supports the BlackBerry platform, has launched Windows Mobile support in September 2007, and will extend to Symbian and other major platforms towards the end of 2007.
